If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?
I’m an optimist who views life from the perspective of ‘the glass being half full’, no matter how challenging the situation might be.
What have been the most rewarding moments of your career in the video games industry?
During my time in the video games industry, it has been deeply gratifying to observe the creative process of game development. Moreover, witnessing players being able to appreciate the final product has made the experience even more rewarding.
How do you approach marketing video games in an industry that is constantly evolving and facing new challenges?
When it comes to marketing, no matter the field, one thing stays the same: it is essential to know your target audience. This is so fundamental that, as long as you have a strong grasp on who your audience is, it won’t matter how quickly the industry changes. You’ll be able to figure out how to reach them, no matter what new methods or channels emerge.
How can video games be used to promote positive social messages?
Video games have come to occupy an important place in everyday life, especially for the youth. Their interactive nature offers an interesting platform for imparting knowledge about various social issues. Nowadays, many video games possess intricate storylines that resemble full-length movies. This gives us a great opportunity to raise awareness and consciousness regarding important social causes through the medium of a game’s narrative.
How do you approach cultural sensitivity and diversity in your marketing campaigns and what steps do you take to ensure inclusivity
I am committed to fostering an open and inclusive team environment, and I believe that having a diverse team of individuals with different skills, backgrounds and perspectives will help us achieve this. Not only will our campaign benefit from the varied perspectives, but it will also show our dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity.
What do you think will be the biggest trend in video game marketing over the next year?
Crossplay is becoming increasingly popular, so much so that it doesn’t matter which platform you prefer; you can still play with your friends. In-game advertising is also becoming a popular trend in video game marketing. Thanks to technological advancements, ads and branding can be seamlessly integrated into the game, while also providing players with in-game rewards.
What role do you see emerging technologies such as AI, virtual, and augmented reality playing in the future of video game marketing?
With the rise of emerging technologies such as AI, VR, and AR, video game marketing will become much more sophisticated, dynamic, and captivating. AI can enable the targeting of ads and personalized recommendations, while VR can bring the virtual realm to life with interactive and immersive gaming experiences. AR can take the experience even further by introducing real-world elements to the virtual world, allowing for creative and exciting new gaming experiences. As these technologies become increasingly prevalent, video game marketing will take on a whole new level of innovation.
What is a video game that you will spend countless hours on and why?
I finally got caught up in the thrall of League of Legends, spending a few hours a day playing it. An incredibly intricate and gratifying game, offering a wealth of possibilities. The cosmetics are also attractive and are in-game purchases that I actually want to purchase.
What techniques do you use to manage stress and stay positive?
I love running. To start my day off right, I typically go for a two to three mile run. It not only provides me with the energy I need to tackle whatever the day brings, but it also helps me stay in a positive and energized mindset.
